Jonas Wijtenburg & Vincent de Boer
NL - Jonas Wijtenburg (1989, NL) en Vincent de Boer (1988, NL) presenteren tijdens CODA Paper Art een gezamenlijk werk dat voor het eerst op een openbare plek als CODA getoond wordt. Het werk bestaat uit een modulair werkstation, gemaakt door Jonas Wijtenburg waarin Vincent de Boer werkt aan een enorme tekening op papier. Omdat het systeem modulair is, kan het op meerdere manieren ingezet worden. Het werkstation heeft in deze opstelling twee kanten; een input- en een outputkant. De Boer werkt aan de ene kant aan een kleurrijke tekening op een rol. Als hij de tekening verder doordraait, wordt het resultaat aan de andere kant zichtbaar. De Boer heeft een speciale tekentechniek ontwikkeld om te kunnen tekenen op rollen papier van deze omvang en grootte. Net zoals bij een digitale printer bouwt hij zijn tekening lijn voor lijn op met smalle streken inkt die hij met een kalligrafiepenseel aanbrengt. Het modulaire werkstation faciliteert én presenteert het werk doordat het precies is aangepast aan de werkmethode van De Boer. Het systeem, het kunstwerk en de kunstenaar aan het werk worden als één geheel zichtbaar.
ENG - Jonas Wijtenburg (b. Netherlands, 1989) and Vincent de Boer (b. Netherlands, 1988) are presenting a joint work at CODA Paper Art. This is the first time it is being shown in a public place. The piece consists of a modular workstation made by Wijtenburg, at which De Boer is working on a huge drawing on paper. Because the system is modular, it can be used in various ways. In this configuration, it has two sides: an input and an output. On one side, De Boer is working on a colourful drawing on a roll of paper. As he continues to turn it, the result becomes visible on the other side. De Boer has developed a technique that enables him to draw on rolls of this size. Just as a digital printer does, he builds up his drawing one line at a time, using narrow pink strokes applied with a calligraphy brush. The modular workstation both presents and facilitates the piece, because it is precisely adapted to the way in which De Boer operates. The technology, the artwork and the artist are visible as a single entity.
